A Chance for "Us"

A chance does not always come easy. Some chances come roughly. And one thing I learned just now is that, sometimes, the root cause of our depression is our expectation.

No relationship is perfect. Every relationship has its own share of struggles which can reveal the real condition of our hearts. Our response can be filled with thorns but, to those who have tasted that one true love demonstrated on the cross, it can lead us into asking ourselves as to who God is in the midst of the rising heat. Each tree is known by its own fruit. For figs are not gathered from thornbushes, nor are grapes picked from a bramble bush (Luke 6:44). We ought not to stay on our thorny response. Instead, by God’s grace, we are to move into the fruit - biblical response to our present situation.

You might be single now and is feeling that paralyzing self-condemnation where you drown yourself on the thought that your singleness is a curse. You might be in that complicated relationship where ghosting and uncertainty bring your life a displeasing “melody”. You might be in what seems to be your “perfect” relationship and feel as though every day is a vibrant day filled with love. In whatever situation you are right now, your “Sana all” on Hearts Day will never bring you the satisfaction and joy you always wanted. No bouquet of flowers, well-written love letter, human-sized teddy bear, extravagant surprise, and expensive chocolate can surpass the expression of love Christ did there on the cross. His steadfast love is better than life itself (Psalm 63:3) and in His presence is fullness of joy; at His right hand are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11).

We may not be sailing in a smooth sea right now, but we are covered by Him who calms the raging sea. He who walks on the stormy sea has faithful promises to us, oh wretched men that we are! We may have failed countless times but Jesus is a God whose grace is unfathomable! All glory to Him.
